Job Title: Stock Control Apprentice
Department: Supply Chain – Stock Control

Contract Type: Apprenticeship, Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
Programme: Level 3 Business Administrator Apprenticeship
Job Purpose
The Stock Control Apprentice will learn and support all aspects of stock control across Motorpoint. This role provides hands-on training in vehicle visibility, system accuracy, audit processes, and cross-department collaboration, while studying towards a Level 3 Business Administrator qualification. The apprentice will play an important role in helping maintain accurate stock records and supporting the wider team to resolve stock-related issues.
What you’ll learn (via Derby College Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship)
- Systematic training in core business administrative functions, including record keeping, ICT for business, communication, and organisational skills.
- Structured classroom/remote learning with real-world assignments linked to your day-to-day work.
- Assessment via observations, portfolio work, and other evidence-based methods to reinforce learning in your role.
- A pathway to further professional growth, with knowledge and behaviours that prepare you for progression to supervisory or specialised administrative roles.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the investigation and resolution of stock discrepancies across systems and sites.
- Assist with loading, updating, and maintaining stock records in company systems.
- Help with adding and verifying vehicle service history and other key documentation.
- Assist with regular audits of prep systems to ensure check-in records are accurate.
- Help identify and escalate unknown or misallocated vehicles.
- Provide administrative support chasing MOTs and warranty-related delays.
- Work alongside store teams to understand on-the-ground stock processes.
- Learn to liaise with internal departments (e.g., logistics, service & warranty, fleet).
- Assist in analysing stock movements and trends.
- Support quarterly stock takes and reconciliation between physical and system records.
- Contribute to daily/weekly stock reporting under supervision.
- Take part in system audits, highlighting where vehicles may be stuck or misaligned.

- Completion of Level 3 Business Administrator apprenticeship within agreed timeframe.
- Accuracy and reliability of work on audits, reporting, and admin tasks.
- Contribution to reducing stock discrepancies and supporting process improvements.
- Positive feedback from team members, stores, and departments supported.
- Personal development in confidence, independence, and technical knowledge.
Personal Attributes
- Minimum Grade 3 (or equivalent) in GCSE Maths and English (required for apprenticeship entry).
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot and resolve discrepancies.
- Good problem-solving skills and persistence in following issues through to resolution.
- Confident communicator, able to work with multiple departments and external partners.
- Organised with the ability to manage competing priorities.
